The primary objective is for you to present research on the multiple issues discussed throughout the semester based the various factors that impact merchandising and fashion business around the globe.
You will self select a fashion apparel company (retailer or wholesaler) that originated and is successfully operating beyond American borders. ANY COMPANY THAT ORIGINAGED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THIS ASSIGNMENT AND IS NOT ELIGIBLE. However, due to successful expansion, the company may and can have a presence in the USA and beyond. You will incorporate research done from the two research papers submitted earlier in the semester focusing on economic, political and legal systems as well as culture, tradition and religion indigenous to the selected country. Your research MUST focus on the following:
1. History of the Company
(Include ownership status, both current and historic)
2. Fashion Profile and target market
(Include current fashion profile and historic evolutions)
3. Merchandise Assortment & Evolution
4. Apparel country of origin as well as currency
5. Promotions and Markdown Cadence
6. Local Merchandise/Industry Support or Governance
7. Current and evolving domestic retail landscape and competition
8. Current economic conditions of consumer spending on fashion with the country
9. Cultural traditions/holidays/national pride that impact merchandising within the country
10. Applied technological applications used by the company
11. Local production/sourcing, aspiration and potential for expansion beyond country of origin
12. Financial revenue, gross margin, number of stores, etc.
13. Discuss the philanthropic or social involvement the organizations is involve with in the originating country and beyond.
